11 Apr Made From Scotland – online store for Wedding Gift Ideas & Favours
Happy Friday everyone!
This week I’m featuring a super online site where you can find fabulous quality Scottish products. No tacky Scottish hello Jimmy hats here, just great ideas for wedding jewellery, wedding gifts and favours which are made right here in Scotland by very talented people.
I’ll leave it to the great folks from Made From Scotland to tell you all about their site and the goodies you can find there!
Hello Sixpence Weddings & Events blog readers! We’re madefromscotland.com, an online marketplace which showcases the best of independent Scottish designers and producers. Our founder, Fay Gourlay, set up the business in September 2013 as she felt that Scotland really lacked a place for these creative designers to sell their products, distinct from the mass-produced Scottish gifts that are normally promoted and found that some designer-producers were really struggling to be seen.
In the madefromscotland.com online shop you’ll find a wide variety of designers from all over Scotland, both established names and new or graduate designers, selling beautiful, handmade products which are perfect for adding a wee touch of Scotland to your wedding.
On the site you can search for items by category, business/designer name or the location of the designer if you want to buy something from the area that the wedding will be held or where the bride or groom’s family comes from. You can find out about the creative business on their profile page, email them if you have any questions and purchase items from different designer-producers using one check out and transaction process on the site, making finding out about Scottish designers and shopping for wedding presents, decorations, favours, accessories and jewellery from Scotland quick and simple.
Wedding Jewellery
Our selection of beautiful handmade Scottish jewellery is perfect for both the bride and groom. Kit out your groom’s kilt with a stunning kilt pin like the Silver Thistle Kilt Pin by renowned Orkney designer Ola Gorie, or opt for something unique like Tomasz Jablonski Jewellery’s Feather Kilt Pin which features a real feather which has been silver-plated. Don’t forget some cufflinks too; we love the Ballachulish Slate and Silver ones by Jenny Parker Jewellery.
For brides, we have a wide selection of gorgeous, dainty jewellery which would add the perfect accompaniment to your dress. Graduate designer Holly Wilcox’s Blossom range is beautifully simple yet stunning. We also love Hannah Eccles Jewellery’s handmade designs; her Petal Pearl Earrings are sophisticated and would add some extra elegance to your wedding outfit without detracting from your dress.
Wedding guests would also love our range of jewellery by independent designers to add the finishing touches to their outfit. Alison Moore’s fun designs with bright gemstones would be perfect!
Wedding Favours & Decorations
Madefromscotland.com also has lots of lovely products which would make great wedding favours and decorations. Couthie’s Tweed Lavender-Scented Hearts would be the perfect little keepsake for guests, and the matching Tweed Bunting would look great as a decoration around the room. Couthie also create other little trinkets which would make great favours, such as candles, soaps and even Couthie playing cards! The lanterns by E.C. Ceramic Designs would also make great decorations for your special day; they come in butterfly, star and heart patterns and would add a lovely finishing touch to table centrepieces.
Keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be launching a brand new category, Food & Drink, in May. We’ll have lots more inspiration for foodie favours, like homemade Scottish tablet and other sweet treats!
Wedding Gift Ideas
If you’re going to be a guest at a wedding soon and are stuck for unique gift ideas, we can help! Our independent designers produce a wide variety of gorgeous homewares, art, accessories and other gifts which would be perfect for the new couple. We love Gillian Kyle’s range of retro-inspired homewares; her iconic Tunnock’s Teacake Cushion or Scottish Breakfast Tea Towels and Apron would add the perfect splash of Scottish humour to the newlyweds’ home. Graduate designer Amy McGregor’s sophisticated range of homewares and textiles would also make beautiful gifts for the home, and the prints by Dwelling Bird or the linocuts by A Pair of Blue Eyes would be lovely wedding presents.
Wedding Guest Accessories
Our Scottish producers also design fashion accessories for unique wedding guest outfits. Wear a beautiful bright silk scarf, like the ones by Claire Corstorphine, to add a splash of colour to your outfit, and don’t forget a fascinator, like Mairi Brunning’s Betty Pillbox Hat, to finish the look off. We also have a lovely selection of bags, like those from Dunmore Scotland, perfect for completing your wedding day outfit
