A New Scottish Pub – Ghillie Dhu

A New Scottish Pub – Ghillie Dhu

I was very excited to hear that a brand new Scottish pub will be opening its doors in Edinburgh this Saturday March 13th!

While the former church was in the depths of reconstruction/refurbishment. I used to often pass it wondering what it would be.  Well, now I know!  It’s called Ghillie Dhu and it’s set to be Edinburgh’s brand new Scottish Pub!

It has a great location next to the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh’s salubrious West End.  It will be open all day from 8.30am till 3am, serving lovely Scottish food.  We went for a sneak preview today and were very impressed!  The food served there was superb.  Simple Scottish food made with great locally sourced ingredients.  So, if you’re looking to sample some lovely Haggis, Scottish Mussels, Aberdeen Angus Beef or great Scottish desserts like ‘Clootie Dumpling’ or Glayva ice-cream then this is the place for you!

Inside it has a very nice feel to it.  It does feel Scottish and great to see that there isn’t a tartan carpet or jimmy hat in sight!  Instead, it’s modern & contemporary but has still kept a lot of the traditional features of the original building.

Could it get better?  Yes, of course it can!  As well as great food, they’ll be having live entertainment with folk and acoustic sessions every night and there will also be a ceilidh once a week!

To find out more, visit their site at http://www.ghillie-dhu.co.uk or call them to make a reservation on 0131-222-9930.

Well worth a visit I’d say!  Sorry there aren’t any photos, they wouldn’t let us take any!

Enjoy!
